Compound Cleaner

Job Summary We are seeking a hardworking, honest, physically fit, and responsible Compound Cleaner to join our hotel team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, neatness, and overall appearance of the hotel's compound and outdoor surroundings. The ideal candidate must be attentive to detail, punctual, disciplined, and capable of working independently while following the hotel's cleaning procedures, safety regulations, and management instructions. The candidate must understand that maintaining a clean and attractive hotel environment contributes significantly to guest satisfaction and the hotel's reputation. Duties and Responsibilities General Compound Cleaning; Sweep and clean the entire hotel compound, including walkways, driveways, entrances, and parking areas. Remove leaves, dirt, dust, and other debris from the surroundings. Empty outdoor waste bins regularly and dispose of waste at designated collection points. Ensure that the hotel's entrance and surrounding areas remain clean and presentable at all times. Clean outdoor sitting areas, designated recreational spaces, and other assigned areas. Remove cobwebs and clean accessible outdoor surfaces where necessary. Maintain cleanliness around the fence, gates, and other external areas of the hotel. Waste Management and Environmental Hygiene: Collect and properly dispose of waste according to the hotel's waste management procedures. Ensure that waste bins are clean, properly positioned, and not overflowing. Prevent the accumulation of stagnant water, litter, and other materials that may attract pests or create unpleasant odours. Report blocked drains, overflowing waste areas, and other sanitation problems to the supervisor. Help maintain a clean, hygienic, and environmentally friendly hotel compound. Grounds and Outdoor Maintenance: Water flowers, lawns, and other plants where required. Remove weeds from designated areas. Keep flower beds and landscaped areas neat and tidy. Report damaged outdoor facilities, broken lights, leaking pipes, and other maintenance issues. Assist with simple outdoor maintenance tasks within the limits of the assigned role and training. Keep outdoor equipment and cleaning tools in good condition. Safety and Security: Observe safety procedures while carrying out cleaning duties. Use cleaning tools and equipment properly and responsibly. Place warning signs where necessary to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Report hazardous waste, broken glass, sharp objects, and other dangerous materials immediately. Report suspicious activities, damaged property, and security concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Avoid interfering with guests, their vehicles, or personal belongings without authorization. Follow the hotel's procedures for handling chemicals and other cleaning materials. Discipline and Professional Conduct: Report to work punctually and wear the approved uniform or appropriate work clothing. Maintain good personal hygiene and a neat appearance. Follow instructions from the supervisor and hotel management. Treat guests, colleagues, and management with courtesy and respect. Avoid fighting, bullying, abusive language, arguments, and other forms of workplace misconduct. Avoid using mobile phones during working hours except when authorized or required for official duties. Prevent the misuse, loss, or unauthorized removal of hotel property. Report completed duties, unusual incidents, and maintenance concerns to the supervisor. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum of primary school education; secondary school education is an advantage. Previous experience in compound cleaning, environmental sanitation, facility cleaning, or a similar role is an advantage. Ability to sweep, lift, bend, stand, and perform routine physical cleaning tasks safely. Knowledge of basic cleaning practices and waste disposal procedures. Good personal hygiene and willingness to wear the approved uniform. Honesty, punctuality, reliability, and discipline. Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required. Ability to work cooperatively with other hotel staff. Required Skills and Competencies: Attention to detail.
