Key Responsibilities and Duties Machine Operation:Safely operate hydraulic excavators (including 360-degree units) for excavation, grading, trenching, and demolition. Site Preparation:Clear land, dig foundations for buildings, and excavate trenches for pipes or cables. Safety & Maintenance:Conduct pre-operational daily inspections (checking oil, fuel, fluid levels), perform basic repairs, and ensure the machine is in good working order to prevent malfunctions. Material Handling:Load, move, and lift heavy materials (dirt, rocks, debris) with precision. Site Plan Adherence:Read blueprints and survey markers to ensure digging occurs at the correct depth, slope, and location. Collaboration:Coordinate with ground crew, signalers, and site supervisors to maintain a safe, efficient workflow, often in restricted spaces. Required Skills and Qualifications Experience: 3 - 4 years of experience in operating excavators or similar heavy machinery. Technical Skills:Proficient understanding of hydraulic equipment and basic maintenance. Technology Proficiency:Familiarity with GPS and laser-guided systems for precise excavation. Physical Ability:Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to sit for extended periods. Safety Knowledge:Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), including handling underground utilities.
