Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Assessment:
    • Identify and evaluate risks related to construction projects, including financial, operational, and compliance risks.
  2. Compliance Checks:
    • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and company policies.
  3. Financial Audits:
    • Review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accuracy and integrity.
    • Assess cost management practices and identify areas for cost control.
  4. Operational Audits:
    • Evaluate project management processes, scheduling, and resource allocation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Review procurement practices and vendor management.
  5. Internal Controls:
    • Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements to mitigate risks.
  6. Reporting:
    • Prepare audit reports detailing findings, risks, and recommendations for management.
    • Present findings to senior management and the board, if necessary.
  7. Follow-up:
    • Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  8. Training and Support:
    • Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance and best practices.

 

Areas of Focus:

  • Project Management: Review adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the company meets safety regulations and standards on job sites.
  • Subcontractor Management: Evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Change Orders: Review and audit change orders for appropriateness and adherence to contract terms.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience:

  • 5 years work experince in a finance/audit environment in a construction environment
  • Accounting Degree or Diploma
  •  Strong understanding of construction processes and industry standards
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the construction industry
  • Analytical skills to assess risk and identify areas for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and training purposes.
