Job description
The Role
Our sales, operations, credit and customer teams sit closest to the problems that slow adoption down. A customer drops off halfway through an application. An installer can't tell whether a buyer qualifies. A collections team works from a spreadsheet because the tool they need doesn't exist yet.
We need someone who goes and finds those problems, works out which ones matter most, and turns them into products our engineers can build. Some of what you ship will be customer-facing. A lot of it will be the internal tools that let our business teams move faster. You'll decide what gets built and why, and you'll stay with it until it's live and working.
This isn't a people-management role. Engineering reports elsewhere. Your job is the product: the problem, the direction, the spec, and whether it worked.
What you'll do
Spend real time with our business and customer teams, and with customers and installers directly, to understand where things break.
Turn what you find into clear problem statements and priorities, and defend them when they're challenged.
Write specs engineers can build from, then run delivery with them week to week.
Pull your own data. You'll answer most questions about loans, payments and funnels yourself in SQL rather than waiting on someone else.
Decide how we'll know something worked before it ships, and check afterwards.
Get out of the office. Some of the most useful research happens at an installer's shop or on a call with a customer who just missed a payment.
Qualifications
At least 3 years as a product manager, with real ownership of what shipped. More experience is welcome, and we'd love to see stretches where you operated at a senior level
Evidence that you started from a business or customer problem, not a feature request, and can show what changed because of your work
Comfortable with SQL and with drawing conclusions from messy data
Strong at writing specs and running delivery with engineers, in Jira, Linear or similar
You do your own research and enjoy it, including in person
You understand how Nigerians buy, borrow and pay, or you can show us how quickly you learn a market
Pluses: lending, fintech, energy, or products where an operations team is a core user
