Sales Manager (Cape Town)

Job Description

• An established organisation within the FMCG and distribution sector is looking for an experienced Sales Manager / Business Development professional to lead a sales team and drive business growth across the Western Cape.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, motivate and manage the sales team to achieve sales and gross profit targets.
• Set targets, monitor performance and provide ongoing coaching and support.
• Develop and implement strategies to grow the customer base and increase revenue.
• Identify, secure and develop new business across the retail, hospitality, food service, wholesale and manufacturing sectors.
• Manage key customer relationships and identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
• Prepare quotations, pricing proposals and tenders.
• Monitor market and competitor activity and identify new opportunities.
• Manage customer retention, recover lost business and assist with resolving customer issues.
• Monitor sales performance, forecasts, pipelines and reporting.
• Work closely with procurement, warehouse and other internal teams to ensure effective service delivery.
• Represent the organisation at customer meetings, trade shows and industry events.

REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• 3 - 5 years' sales experience, with at least 2 years in a sales management role.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing new business.
• Strong leadership, people management and business development skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
• Commercial understanding of pricing, margins and gross profit.
• Computer literate with experience using MS Office and an ERP/CRM system.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape.
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, honest and results-driven.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Experience in FMCG, retail, hospitality, food service, wholesale or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of packaging, cleaning chemicals or related FMCG products.
• Existing customer network within the Western Cape.
• Experience with key accounts, national retail groups or tenders.
• Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing or Business Management.
