Expand Health AI is on a mission to redefine healthcare—enabling health professionals to shift from a reactive, sick-based model to a proactive, data-driven approach. Our AI-powered platform turns complex patient data into actionable insights, empowering health professionals with the tools to deliver hyper-personalised care that drives lasting impact. 

Our journey began with the launch of two health hubs in Europe and South Africa, where we saw the immense pressure on professionals to stay at the forefront of wellness—spending hours analysing data—from genetics and blood tests to lifestyle insights from wearable devices—all in pursuit of one goal: identifying the root causes of health issues rather than just managing symptoms.

This inspired us to create Expand Health AI—a platform designed to streamline health data collection, analysis, and protocol delivery, allowing professionals to focus on what matters most: achieving the best outcomes for their patients.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a key driver in shaping the future of Expand Health’s web platform. More than just writing code, you’ll work closely with the Founders, engage deeply with customer challenges, and translate insights into impactful solutions. We’re looking for a problem-solver with a strong "sense of product"—someone who is passionate about building technology that directly simplifies the lives of health professionals.

• Develop and maintain our platform using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, ensuring high performance and scalability.
• Work alongside a 20+ member tech team, including backend and AI engineers, to build seamless and intuitive user experiences.
• Architect and implement new features that align with business goals and follow technical best practices.
• Optimise performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, integrating best practices for efficiency.
• Champion best practices in coding, security, and performance to maintain a high-quality codebase.

• 4+ years of engineering experience with React and 3+ years with JavaScript & TypeScript.
• Strong scalability mindset with a deep understanding of backend infrastructure.
• Sharp eye for design, user experience, and attention to detail.
• Exceptional product sense, able to turn ambiguity into elegant solutions.
• Commercially astute, comfortable working with technical & non-technical stakeholders.
• Deeply curious about customers and eager to learn and apply new technologies for impact.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly through speech, visuals, and writing.

• Startup experience with a track record of thriving in fast-paced, high-ownership environments.
• AI expertise, including integrations, prompt engineering, and AI-powered infrastructure.
• Healthcare industry experience or a strong understanding of health databases and electronic health records (EHRs).
