Who You Are:

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing instruction manuals and articles with the main goal of communicating complex, technical information more easily. You will develop, gather, and disseminate technical information among customers, designers, and manufacturers.   

It's important that you have a knack for producing documentation that is not only high-quality, but also understandable for our internal teams and customers.

We are seeking a technical writer who will drive our documentation efforts in collaboration with both internal engineering groups and our wider open source developer community. In this role you will be hands-on with Akkadian products, as you create new and improve existing documentation.  

What You'll Do:

• Proactively communicate and collaborate with product designers and developers to understand product details 

• Work with stakeholders and SMEs to gather information for documentation 

• Create high-quality documentation that meets standards, is appropriate and easy to use 

• Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions, while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team 

• Research, write, and produce a high volume of client-facing documentation for an ever-evolving product 

• Partner with our engineering teams throughout the application development life cycle to create public user documentation 

• Produce and distribute tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications 

• Research and collect usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers 

• Review source code for community and internally developed systems to collect technical details for documentation 

• Create internal documentation and training materials to foster the growth of our software community 

• Manage a high volume of projects and priorities independently, in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders. 

• Create and maintain the information architecture 

• Analyze and manage existing and potential content on the application as needed  

• Create reports as necessary  

• 4 years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar role 

• 2 years of experience in technical writing of software documentation 

• Bachelors Degree preferred  

• Ability to translate highly technical information into easily understandable information for customers 

• Creative skills and usage of photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding 

• Ability to design documents when templates and other frameworks are unavailable 

• Document type to include; Process Controls, Training Manuals, Stakeholder Reports, etc. 

• Experience in engineering or computer science is preferred
