University Librarian

Job Summary The Librarian is a Principal Officer in charge of Library affairs and responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University Library. The candidate should be a Chartered Librarian of the Professional Association. Requirements Candidates should have a good honours Degree and higher Degrees MLS, Ph.D. in Library, Archival and Information Science. Should have been at least a Senior Librarian. They should possess at least 15 years post qualification cognate experience in a Library of an academic institution and must have served as Head of several major Divisions in such a Library. They should also be conversant with modern trends in Library Automation. A significant number of publications in national and international reputable journals showing evidence of active research will be an added advantage. Applicant must be at least 40 years and must NOT be more than 60 years as at the time of assumption of duty. Tenure This is a tenured appointment of a single term of Five (5) years in accordance with the new Federal Government of Nigeria circular. Salary Grade CONTISS 15. Conditions of Service These are as currently in force in all Nigerian Universities and as approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the University.
