The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:


To work closely with the Divisional Heads: Infrastructure, Operations and Service Management, in planning the growth and improvements, of executing data centre strategies to achieve delivery of a robust, reliable and resilient data centre.
To formulate, implement, maintain and manage service standards with data centre service providers (internal and external) for the proactive preventative maintenance, upgrade and monitoring of data centres environmental controls.
To ensure effective management of the collocated data centres, with regards to availability, reliability and stability.
To ensure effective management of installations, upgrades and removal of IT Infrastructure, in compliance with required data centre standards.
To oversee the management of ad hoc Data Centre related projects to contribute towards the sustainability of systems within BSTD
To compile and manage budgets with regards to the respective Data Centres and ensure expenditure within limits.
To facilitate the delivery of section-specific outputs and manage the efficiency and quality of section deliverables.
To optimise section resource use, allocate work and manage the accountability of resources.
To identify gaps, inefficiencies, quality issues in the work of the section and take specific actions to implement improvements.
To monitor and report on the quality, turnaround and impact of section deliverables.
To be an alternate IT Service Continuity Manager and keep the IT Systems Recovery Teams abreast of any changes or risks on any data centre which may impact the availability and reliability of systems.
To take responsibility for capacity planning by designing short- and long-term plans to ensure that data centre capacity meets existing and future requirements.


Job requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:


A minimum of a bachelor's degree OR equivalent (a qualification in Information Technology will be an added advantage).
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an Information and Technology environment, including within IT infrastructure, operations and data centre management.


Any of the following data centre accreditations would be an added advantage:


A CDS - Certified Data Centre Specialist.
A CDCP - Certified Data Centre Professional.
CDFOM - Certified Data Centre Facilities Operations Management.
