Detailed description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Support BSTD applications by monitoring the underlying environments, including databases and application servers, to ensure capacity management, systems availability and optimal performance.
Maintain BSTD applications by applying corrective measures, such as patches, upgrades and bug fixes.
Proactively monitor application upgrades, new releases and product replacements that may affect the assigned applications.
Configure the application infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and install new features to enable new functionality.
Investigate and resolve medium- to high-complexity technical issues by interacting with users, developers and other stakeholders on allocated applications.
Provide reports and recommendations on solution performance and systems availability to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Proactively manage business and stakeholder relationships in relation to application support.
Keep abreast of best practices and technologies related to BSTD and apply them where relevant.
Impart knowledge of the technical environment to the system development team.
Maintain compliance with security and application standards.
Qualifications
Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
a Bachelor's degree in either computer science (NQF level 7), information management, information technology (IT) or an equivalent qualification in a related field;
six to eight years' experience in supporting, maintaining and enhancing IT business applications; and
three years' experience working with integrated workplace management systems (IWMS), building information modelling (BIM) or smart building environments.
Additional requirements include:
working knowledge of the JBoss application server, Java development and JavaScript;
knowledge of C# development;
