Job Summary

Reliable Steel and Plastic Industry Limited is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Officer with a minimum of one (1) year post-NYSC experience to join our finance team in Onitsha. The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting principles and strong practical knowledge of accounts payable operations within a structured organization.

Key Responsibilities


Process, verify, and record supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
Prepare and process payments (cash, cheque, bank transfers) in line with company policies
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly
Maintain proper documentation and filing of all accounts payable records
Post transactions into accounting ledgers and accounting software
Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing activities
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations (VAT, WHT), and internal controls
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
Monitor outstanding payables and manage payment schedules efficiently
Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payment issues


Requirements & Qualifications


B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
NYSC completed with at least one (1) year post-NYSC work experience
Strong understanding of general accounting and accounts payable functions
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Good knowledge of Nigerian taxation basics (VAT, WHT)
High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Must be willing and available to work in Onitsha

Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA - partly or fully qualified)
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
