Job Brief
We are seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for managing the company's financial records, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, supporting budgeting processes, and providing financial insights to aid business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and accounting transactions.
Process journal entries, invoices, payments, receipts, and other financial documents.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts regularly.
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Monitor accounts payable and ensure timely payment of suppliers and vendors.
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
Prepare payment schedules and cash flow reports.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and report variances.
Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to management.
Support cost control initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare and file statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, WHT, Pension, NSITF, ITF, and other applicable taxes.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies when required.
Support annual audits and financial reviews.
Payroll Support
Assist in payroll processing and verification.
Ensure accurate computation of salaries, deductions, taxes, and pension contributions.
Maintain payroll records and statutory remittances.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and procedures.
Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
General Finance Support
Assist management with financial data and reports for decision-making.
Support treasury and cash management activities.
Perform any other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
