Job Description


The Accountant is responsible for managing the company's financial transactions, encompassing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
This includes ensuring accurate and timely billing, receipting, reconciliation, vendor and customer account management, and compliance with financial and statutory obligations.
The role supports effective cash flow planning, credit control, vendor relations, and sound financial reporting.
The Accountant ensures adherence to internal control policies, optimizes working capital, and maintains accurate financial records in support of decision-making and audit readiness.


Responsibilities


Manage accounts payable and receivable, including ledgers, postings, reconciliations, and month/quarter/year-end close
Oversee internal approvals, audit trails, and bank reconciliations for all inflows and payments
Prepare, issue, and reconcile invoices, statements, credit notes, and customer deposits accurately and on time
Monitor cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and projections for inflows and outflows; report variances to management
Manage supplier/vendor payments, invoices, vouchers, petty cash, and compliance with agreed payment terms
Oversee debt collection, customer credit limits, risk profiles, and escalation of AR issues to management
Ensure accurate tax deductions, charges, and statutory filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE, NSITF, ITF, etc.)
Maintain accurate financial records and reports (daily to quarterly) for customers, vendors, and management
Liaise with external accountants and auditors for audits and financial reporting.


Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance
Professional certification is an advantage
Proven experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Excel
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
