Job Role
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting audits, and providing financial insights to aid decision-making. The ideal candidate is a CPA-K holder with over 5 years of experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Maintain compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.
Provide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and company policies.
Prepare documentation for audits and liaise with external auditors.
File statutory returns (PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF, Withholding Tax).
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures.
Provide variance analysis and recommendations for cost control.
D. Process Improvement & Support
Identify opportunities for efficiency in accounting processes.
Support implementation of financial systems and automation.
Provide financial advice to management and other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
CPA-K qualification (mandatory).
At least 5 years' experience in accounting.
Strong knowledge of tax compliance and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
