Job Description
St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented, highly ethical, and analytical Accountant/Internal Auditor to strengthen our financial systems and ensure accountability.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, monitoring financial transactions, and safeguarding the hospital's assets in alignment with our core values of ethical practice, efficiency, and social responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Functions:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Manage accounts payable and receivable.
Process payroll and ensure statutory deductions are remitted promptly.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Reconcile bank statements and hospital accounts.
Monitor budgets and expenditures to ensure cost control.
Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions.
Internal Audit Functions:
Conduct periodic internal audits of financial and operational processes.
Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management systems.
Identify financial discrepancies and recommend corrective measures.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Investigate suspected fraud, financial mismanagement, or irregularities.
Prepare audit reports and present findings to Management.
Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
Required Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel)
Good report writing and documentation skills

Strong organizational and time management skills
Education & Professional Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc./HND) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN) or part qualification is an added advantage
Strong knowledge of financial regulations and tax laws
