Job Descritpion
The Accounts and Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, reconciliations, budgeting, and statutory obligations.
The role requires ensuring accuracy in financial records, timely reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with tax authorities and management.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Responsibilities:
Follow up on JHP/MRDS operations and transactions to ensure all relevant documents are promptly raised, processed, and accurately accounted for.
Conduct regular reviews of all aspects of JHP/MRDS accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper reconciliation with supporting schedules and documentation.
Manage management accounts, financial schedules, commentaries, board financial reports, audited/published accounts, budgets, and forecast revisions, ensuring timely preparation and submission.
Review, verify, and approve financial transactions to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Ensure timely review, processing, and treatment of daily payments and financial obligations.
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper documentation of financial activities.
Support internal and external audit exercises by providing required schedules, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
Provide on-the-job training, supervision, and guidance to accounting staff to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Carry out any other duties or responsibilities assigned by Management.
Tax Responsibilities:
Accurately compute and process all applicable taxes including PAYE, WHT, VAT, CIT, CGT, Development Levy, ITF, and other statutory obligations, ensuring proper accruals, capital allowance computations, timely remittance, and filing of returns to avoid penalties and defaults.
Attend to tax queries, audits, investigations, and liaise with relevant tax authorities to ensure compliance and minimize exposure to penalties.
Conduct regular reviews and reconciliations of all tax ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain proper documentation and filing of all tax correspondences and capital expenditure invoices for processing of acceptance certificates and future reference.
Ensure timely processing and renewal of Tax Clearance Certificates (TCC) and other statutory tax documents.
Prepare, review, and file transfer pricing documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on current tax laws, regulations, and industry practices to ensure continuous compliance and effective implementation.
Provide training and guidance to staff on tax-related processes, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Carry out any other tax-related duties assigned by Management.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is mandatory).
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in accounting, finance, and tax management.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, accounting standards, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software..
Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
