Job Responsibilities
Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement sessions across multiple squads.
Coordinate cross-team dependencies, risks, and impediments through mechanisms such as Scrum of Scrums, PI Planning, or equivalent scaled agile practices (SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus).
Coach and mentor team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on agile mindset, Scrum framework, and lean delivery principles.
Manage the relationship with the consulting partner's delivery leads, ensuring consistent delivery standards, shared Definition of Done, and transparent reporting.
Track and report on delivery metrics (velocity, throughput, cycle time, sprint burndown, cumulative flow) and use data to drive meaningful conversations about team health and performance.
Identify and remove impediments proactively — escalating to programme leadership or technology management where necessary.
Drive continuous improvement by facilitating meaningful retrospectives, tracking improvement actions, and embedding a culture of experimentation and learning.
Ensure governance and compliance — work within the bank's regulatory, risk, and audit frameworks while maintaining agile delivery speed.
Support release management and coordinate deployments with DevOps, infrastructure, and production support teams.
Contribute to the Agile Centre of Excellence / Community of Practice, sharing best practices and driving agile maturity across the broader organization.
Minimum Experience Level
8+ years of experience in agile delivery roles, with at least 3 - 5 years as a Scrum Master in large-scale technology programmes.
Banking, financial services, or fintech experience is strongly preferred — familiarity with core banking, payments, digital channels, regulatory programmes, or platform modernisation initiatives.
Experience operating within regulated environments with an understanding of compliance, audit, and risk management obligations.
Proven track record of managing delivery in multi-vendor / consulting partner environments, including governance of blended onshore/offshore teams.
Experience with large-scale technology transformations such as cloud migration, legacy modernisation, API platform builds, or digital banking rollout
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
Professional Qualifications/Honour's Degree
