About the Company

Our client is a neuroscience-based technology company that uses a simple, positive approach to health behavior change based on the science of habit formation. Dedicated to helping people feel better, we offer technology that leverages mindset, practice, and iteration—inviting people to test drive healthy, evidence-based habits, removing the guesswork and feelings of failure that often accompany lifestyle change. Our client empowers users to be unstoppable by iterating their way to better health. There is no "fail" — only practice and iteration.

Empowering others to be unstoppable begins with fostering a sense of belonging both within and outside of our organization. Our leaders’ values of inclusivity create a workplace culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates diversity of all kinds, connecting us closer to the communities we serve.

Our work culture is designed to encourage and support personal growth and development. Team members are challenged to contribute to a variety of initiatives with many opportunities to learn new skills, take on new projects, and embrace new roles. We measure our individual successes by how much we help others on the team, and we measure our impact by how we improve the lives of those we serve.

We are a 100% remote team with headquarters on a 170-acre retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains in California. The company offers unlimited PTO, a highly flexible work schedule and an opportunity to work across many disciplines.

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and skilled AI Engineer to join our team. You'll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining smart, scalable AI systems that directly impact our products and user experience. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and data scientists to bring next-gen AI-driven features from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Design, train, and validate machine learning models (e.g., classification, forecasting, recommendations) using real-world datasets.

  • End-to-End Lifecycle Management (MLOps): Develop and maintain MLOps pipelines, integrating CI/CD, model monitoring, and version control to ensure reliability and scalability.

  • Prototype & Deployment: Rapidly prototype AI features and deploy robust solutions

  • Performance Optimization: Conduct hyperparameter tuning and efficiency testing to optimize for accuracy, latency, throughput, and resource utilization.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside product teams to translate business needs into practical AI solutions; clearly document and communicate methodologies and results.

  • Ethics, Compliance & Monitoring: Ensure fairness, interpretability, and regulatory compliance in AI deployments. Implement monitoring strategies to detect model drift, bias, or performance degradation.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: 2–4 years in machine learning, AI, or related engineering roles; demonstrated experience deploying models in production settings.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with NLP, computer vision, or generative AI and LLMs (e.g. LangChain). Proficiency in Python (or Java/R)

    • Hands-on with ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Spark, etc.

    • Cloud and DevOps tooling: Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure, Mlflow or equivalent MLOps tools

    • Strong in data engineering: ETL pipelines, SQL/NoSQL, data preprocessing

  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Experience contributing to open source AI projects or possessing industry-recognized certifications (e.g. Azure AI Engineer, Google ML Engineer, etc.).

  • Domain expertise (e.g., AdTech, FinTech, Healthcare) that informs feature engineering and system design.
