Summary:


Our Johannesburg office is seeking a skilled Architectural Technologist to join the Architectural team. The role involves delivering architectural design and technical documentation across projects of varying scale and complexity, from concept through to construction.
The Architectural Technologist will report to the Lead Architect, with direction from the AIM Architectural Lead, and will be responsible for the development and delivery of coordinated 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation in line with project requirements.


As the successful candidate, you will: (duties)


Develop and deliver coordinated 3D models, 2D drawings, and contract documentation in accordance with project requirements and the Lead Architect's direction
Maintain and apply Architectural CAD standards across all project deliverables
Prepare and develop project-specific and typical design details
Coordinate with internal team members, consultants, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design delivery
Review and check drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance prior to issue
Support project delivery through participation in meetings, technical coordination, and construction documentation
Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and support project implementation
Provide technical support to site teams and respond to design and construction queries


You bring to the role: (qualifications & experience)

Essential


Diploma in Architectural Technology (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology or Built Environment (Architecture), SACAP-accredited
SACAP registration as a Professional Senior Architectural Technologist
5-10 years' experience in an architectural practice
Advanced Revit proficiency
Strong knowledge of SANS standards and South African building regulations
Experience with council submissions, technical documentation, and detailing
Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments
Strong coordination, planning, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred


Experience with Microstation (V8 XM, V8i), AutoCAD, Bentley AECOsim, Revit, and SketchUp
Experience with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including Bluebeam
Project experience across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors
Experience in mentoring and supporting junior team members
