Job Description
Coordinating the development, review and implementation of county environmental compliance and enforcement policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
Supervising the implementation of environmental compliance requirements by businesses, institutions, developers, industries and other regulated entities within the county.
Coordinating environmental investigations and preparation of technical reports, inspection reports, evidence and documentation required for enforcement and legal proceedings.
Liaising with relevant national government agencies, county departments, law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders on environmental compliance, enforcement and regulatory matters.
Coordinating public complaints and reports relating to environmental violations and ensuring timely investigation, response and resolution.
Maintaining and overseeing environmental compliance records, databases and monitoring systems to support enforcement, reporting and evidence-based decision-making.
Supervising staff responsible for environmental compliance, inspection, monitoring and enforcement functions within the department.
Preparing and submitting periodic reports on environmental compliance, enforcement activities, violations, inspections and corrective actions undertaken within the county.
Requirements & Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental planning, natural resource management, urban planning, sustainability, public/business administration, development studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience within a county government or public sector institution, in environmental planning, sustainability management, environmental policy, or related areas.
Completion of a strategic leadership development course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
