Job Summary
The Assistant Manager, Legal will support the Group's legal function by providing expert advice, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and safeguarding the organization's interests through effective contract management, litigation support, and corporate governance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities
Job Details
Contract Management
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Identify potential legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Litigation & External Counsel Coordination
Liaise with external solicitors and consultants to ensure effective handling of legal matters.
Monitor ongoing litigation and provide updates to management.
Coordinate witnesses and counsel for upcoming matters.
Legal Advisory & Research
Provide timely legal opinions and support to business units.
Conduct legal research to support informed decision-making.
Advise on regulatory compliance and emerging legal issues.
Debt Recovery Oversight
Monitor debt recovery cases and recommend appropriate actions.
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with recovery procedures.
Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recoveries.
Regulatory Monitoring
Track and report on new laws, regulations, and policies impacting the Group.
Advise management on implications and required actions.
Training & Development
Deliver training sessions for business units and the legal department.
Participate in continuous professional development through internal and external training programs.
Company Secretarial Duties
Assist with preparation of meeting minutes and other secretarial functions.
Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping of resolutions and corporate documents.
Policy & SOP Development
Develop and implement SOPs for vendor registration and other legal processes.
Ensure enforceability and effective execution across the Group.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree; BL required.
Minimum of 6-8 years' post-call experience in corporate legal practice or in-house counsel role.
Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate governance, litigation management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
