Qualifications and Experience
PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a related discipline from a recognized university
OR
Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with recognized subspecialty Fellowship training considered equivalent to a PhD in accordance with CUE guidelines and Senate approval
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid practicing license
Minimum of 6 years of university teaching experience, including at least 3 years at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent
Evidence of postgraduate supervision to completion, including:
At least 2 PhD students and 3 Master's students OR
At least 10 Master's students
Minimum of 32 publication points in peer-reviewed journals, including at least 3 publications since last promotion
Contribution to scholarly book chapters or academic publications
Evidence of successful attraction of research funding or development resources
Demonstrated academic leadership, mentorship, and contribution to university governance
Evidence of community engagement and professional service
Expected Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical students
Supervise Master's and PhD students
Conduct independent and collaborative research leading to peer-reviewed publications
Provide academic leadership within the department and school
Participate in curriculum development, program review, and academic innovation
Provide specialist clinical services in affiliated teaching hospitals
Participate in departmental, faculty, and university governance structures
Mentor junior academic staff and trainees
Contribute to research capacity building within the department
