Requirements

A PhD in Governance, Public Administration or Development Studies with relevant teaching, supervision and research experience and a sustained publication record in the specific area of governance, commensurate with the level of appointment.
A relevant PhD in a cognate Social Science discipline such as Political Science or Sociology may be considered, provided the teaching and research record is demonstrably and primarily focused on concerns of governance.
Demonstrated ability and portfolio of evidence in teaching across several areas in the discipline, in particular themes related to Political Economy and Development.
For appointment at Associate Professor level, significant supervision experience and evidence of at least five graduated supervised PhD's and masters is required.
For Senior Lecturer level, supervision experience at Masters level is required and PhD supervision will be advantageous.
For the Associate Professor post, evidence of an independent and ongoing research programme, academic leadership, and successful grants external to the University is an advantage.
Publications as first author in accredited journals in the last five years is a requirement for both levels of appointment. Evidence of policy work, briefings, conference papers and professional and community involvement in the field of policy is an advantage.
