Financial modelling & analysis

Develop and maintain economic and financial models to support solar electrification work to:

Estimate optimal solar and battery system size based on facility electricity needs
Estimate capital expenditures (capex) and operating expenses (opex) for solar electrification of health facilities. This includes analysing various technology types, fleet sizes, and approaches to operations & maintenance (O&M).
Estimate solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) prices under different scenarios (e.g., blended finance structures, contract duration, portfolio size)
Model costs and savings for governments under different electrification and contracting scenarios
Perform analysis to support project development and deal structuring of future blended finance transactions for health

Stakeholder engagement & implementation

Collaborate with industry stakeholders such as solar developers, EPCs, O&M contractors, equipment suppliers and private health providers to gather market data, pricing insights, and key trends.
Support government partners through procurement processes, including drafting prequalification and tender materials and finalizing agreements.
Provide hands-on support to CHAI country teams, offering guidance and assistance in collecting and analysing data, developing presentation materials and executing solar electrification and private finance initiatives.
Communicate findings to inform key stakeholders, including governments, donors, solar companies, and investors, ensuring clarity and alignment across project objectives.

Project scoping & strategy

Support initial scoping for solar electrification projects in further regions: perform data collection and analysis to assess baseline electricity access, reliability, and cost at health facilities, assess potential for solar electrification to address identified gaps, and develop initial business case to support this.
Support the development of CHAI's private finance work, including scoping new opportunities, developing concept notes, and advising teams within CHAI on new opportunities to leverage private finance for health impact.
