As part of this mission, Blue Nova Energy (a subsidiary company of ACDC Dynamics) is seeking an experienced Battery Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and enhance its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Engage with clients, project managers, consulting engineers and internal project teams to define project scope and technical requirements.
Conduct site and load-profile assessments to support fit-for-purpose system designs.
Lead the design, development and integration of BESS solutions, including BMS, inverters, thermal control, monitoring, performance management, lifetime optimisation, economical manufacturing and packaging.
Integrate battery systems with Energy Management Systems and microgrids to enable seamless energy management.
Use tools such as PVSyst, HelioScope and DIgSILENT where required to support Grid Code compliance.
Provide engineering support for legacy battery systems, including hardware and software updates, compatibility improvements and performance enhancements.
Collaborate with product-development teams to ensure new products are reliable, maintainable, safe, cost-effective and aligned with market requirements.
Oversee factory and site acceptance testing, system integration, performance testing and validation under a range of operating conditions.
Develop training materials and educate technical, support and sales teams on BESS architecture, features, services and industry developments.
Monitor emerging BESS technologies, hybrid systems, augmentation strategies, recycling and end-of-life management, and contribute recommendations to the product roadmap.
Define and maintain product-quality standards, analyse system data and customer feedback, and drive continuous improvements in reliability and competitiveness.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Five to seven years' experience in battery-systems engineering, preferably focused on BESS, BMS or renewable-energy solutions.
Proven experience in the design, integration and maintenance of BESS, including microgrid and EMS integration.
Experience with battery-system software, firmware updates and integration testing.
Strong knowledge of applicable industry standards and compliance requirements, including SANS and NRS standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
In-depth understanding of battery management systems, inverter technology, thermal management and battery-system packaging.
Experience integrating BESS into microgrid and EMS environments.
Knowledge of hybrid systems, system augmentation, battery recycling and end-of-life management.
Technical leadership and the ability to guide BESS projects and develop innovative, dependable systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to develop training programmes and transfer technical knowledge effectively.
Excellent stakeholder-engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Adaptability and a commitment to staying current with evolving technologies and industry trends.
