Billing Center Developer - JG7

CAREER OPPORTUNITY Santam's Core Insurance Platform team is looking for a BillingCenter Developer who will be based at the Head Office in Bellville. Job Description The incumbent will be responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance and operational support of Santam's Guidewire BillingCenter platform. The role supports business initiatives, production stability, system integrations and ongoing optimisation of BillingCenter capabilities across the Guidewire InsuranceSuite landscape. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Design, develop, configure and maintain Guidewire BillingCenter functionality and extensions. Develop solutions in accordance with Guidewire best practices, architecture standards and Santam development standards. Analyse technical requirements and translate functional specifications into scalable technical solutions. Develop and maintain integrations between BillingCenter, PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, JDE and other enterprise applications. Configure billing plans, payment plans, delinquency processes, invoicing, payment allocation and financial event processing. Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of production defects and incidents. Participate in application upgrades, cloud releases and platform optimisation initiatives. Collaborate with architects, business analysts, quality analysts and support teams throughout the delivery lifecycle. Develop and maintain technical documentation, configurations and deployment procedures. Ensure adherence to performance, security and operational support requirements. Generic Functions Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior developers and support resources. Participate in estimation, sprint planning, backlog refinement and technical design reviews. Stay abreast of Guidewire BillingCenter product enhancements, cloud releases and development practices. Integration Functions Design and develop interfaces using Guidewire integration frameworks and web services. Collaborate with enterprise integration teams to support reliable and secure system connectivity. Analyse and resolve interface issues affecting financial processing and reconciliation activities. Quality Assurance Conduct code reviews, unit testing and peer reviews. Support integration testing, system testing and user acceptance testing activities. Ensure solutions meet quality, performance and supportability standards before deployment. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. Guidewire BillingCenter Developer certification preferred. Minimum 5 years' software development experience. Minimum 3 years' experience working with Guidewire InsuranceSuite platforms. Experience developing and supporting Guidewire BillingCenter solutions. Strong experience with Gosu, Java, SQL, XML, REST APIs and web services. Experience working with cloud-hosted applications and agile delivery methodologies. Experience within the financial services or short-term insurance industry will be advantageous. Experience using Jira and Confluence. KNOWLEDGE Strong knowledge of Guidewire BillingCenter architecture and configuration. Knowledge of billing, invoicing, receivables, payment processing and reconciliation processes. Knowledge of integration patterns, middleware and enterprise application architecture. Understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD and modern software engineering practices. Understanding of Guidewire Cloud Platform operational practices.
