Key Responsibilities


Generate and review patient invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with hospital billing procedures
Ensure every patient receives appropriate billing and payment is processed through the cashier
Process bills between the 1st and 4th of every month as per hospital policy
Maintain accurate billing records and ensure correspondence with treatments provided
Reconcile patient accounts and process complex financial transactions
Serve as primary liaison between Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and the hospital's medical team
Verify patient eligibility and obtain necessary pre-authorizations from HMOs
Process HMO claims submissions and ensure timely payment collection
Ensure all HMO platforms are adequately followed and patients are treated according to their plans
Handle HMO patients whose coverage requires additional authorization or private payment
Maintain secure and accurate patient billing databases
Prepare and transmit insurance claims using electronic and paper processing methods
Follow up on unpaid claims to minimize revenue loss
Handle patient and insurance inquiries regarding billing matters
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies


Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background:


Minimum of an HND / Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Professional certification in healthcare billing (preferred).


Experience:


Experience in hospital billing or HMO operations
Experience with medical billing software, portals and HMO platforms
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding system.


Technical Skills:


Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of Google Docs and project management tools
Experience with billing software and electronic claims processing.
