Key performance areas
Supervise and ensure the welfare of hostel learners, acting in loco parentis
Maintain discipline by enforcing hostel rules, policies, and the Code of Conduct
Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, and appearance of learners before school
Manage hostel administration, inventories, and daily operations
Liaise with staff, parents, and relevant stakeholders regarding learner welfare and maintenance issues
Organize and facilitate recreational and entertainment activities for boarders
Conduct daily checks of hostel assets and report damages for follow-up
Supervise evening study sessions, weekend activities, and hostel leaders
Ensure accurate record-keeping of registers, permissions, and disciplinary processes
Qualifications, experience and skills
Minimum Grade 12 qualification
At least 2 years' experience in a similar environment
Computer literacy and supervisory skills
Knowledge of the School Act and hostel policies advantageous
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work with enthusiasm and empathy with adolescents
Conflict management and problem-solving skills
Multi-lingual ability advantageous
Flexible and able to work night-time shifts
