About the role
The purpose of the Business Analyst III role is to strategize and facilitate effective and competitive business processes by eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting business, organisational and operational requirements, providing cost-benefit analysis, suitable alternatives and recommendations.
The role conducts market analyses, analysing both product lines and the overall profitability of the business while developing and monitoring data quality metrics to ensure business data and reporting needs are met.
The role also provides technical leadership on the improvement of quality, standards and processes by ensuring that efficient and cost-effective business solutions and processes are in place to address current to long-term business needs and requirements. Business decisions in this space will generally come to fruition within 1 to 3 years.
This role plays an instrumental part across business and delivery teams to ensure that solutions are delivered according to business requirements while considering cost, user and organisational benefit.
The projects in this role are generally cross-domain, high-profile and complex in nature, requiring expert business, process and technology perspectives and recommendations.
What you'll do
Information Seeking & Analysis
Perform high-level analysis activities during the Ideation and Discovery phase of projects, identifying impacts, dependencies and considerations.
Provide input into the creation of business cases aligned to organisational strategies, including feasibility and business benefits.
Perform detailed analysis activities within the CE cycle, assisting to unpack features, identify detailed requirements and collaborate on solution design.
Understand, analyse and identify opportunities for improvement within the current business environment and across shared business processes and systems.
Contribute to business strategy discussions and remain informed of current trends and developments within the retail industry.
Operate confidently across multiple domains, integrated systems and operational processes while making relevant connections across business areas.
Consider enterprise-wide solutions and impacts when evaluating requirements and opportunities.
Analyse customer needs and multiple domain impacts through user journeys, research and engagement with operational areas.
Research and identify opportunities to improve the business offering and provide additional value to customers through business solutions.
Assess and document the business implications of user requirements on business processes.
Assess risks, costs and potential benefits of alternative business process designs.
Define business rules and guide their implementation in the development of application systems.
Drive and shape solution scope and ensure alignment and understanding with business users.
Assess technical solutions and business processes against business requirements.
Drive the removal of change management barriers impacting User Acceptance Testing.
Produce fit-for-purpose business requirements and process documentation using appropriate tools and agreed standards.
Liaise across teams to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
Leadership, Facilitation & Influencing
Take ownership of knowledge within a specific area and identify opportunities for improvement within the team.
Work closely with Architects, Designers and Business Stakeholders to evaluate proposed solutions.
Advise on alternatives presented by technical teams and provide recommendations regarding business design.
Lead others in advancing organisational objectives.
Influence stakeholders across business and technology teams to support solutions that best serve the business.
Persuade stakeholders to consider alternative approaches and practices where appropriate.
Coach and mentor Junior and Intermediate Business Analysts on analysis processes and delivery practices.
Communication, Building & Maintaining Relationships
Build and maintain trusted relationships with business users and IT stakeholders by ensuring solutions are delivered as promised and by providing support and recommendations.
Liaise with business stakeholders, IT disciplines and delivery teams.
Collaborate across disciplines and benchmark value-adding solutions.
Act as a thinking partner and ambassador for the business.
Manage vendor relationships where projects involve third-party providers.

Advanced Business Analysis certification such as CBAP, AAC or similar.
Experience

Business & Industry Knowledge
