Job Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving business growth, expanding the customer base, and ensuring sustainable portfolio performance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a deep understanding of microfinance operations, and a proven ability to achieve business and performance targets.
The role reports directly to the Head of Growth and involves strategic planning, market expansion, and team supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand the company's market presence.
Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and market segments for growth.
Supervise and support branch teams to meet and exceed business objectives.
Monitor and analyze branch and regional performance, recommending improvement strategies where necessary.
Lead the development and execution of loan products and marketing initiatives tailored to target markets.
Drive customer acquisition, retention, and satisfaction through consistent engagement and quality service delivery.
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform business strategy.
Ensure strong loan portfolio quality and compliance with organizational policies.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and motivation to field officers and branch managers.
Prepare periodic business performance reports for management review.
Represent the organization professionally in external stakeholder engagements.
Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements and Qualifications
B.Sc Degree / HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a Microfinance Institution (MFI) — MFI experience is essential.
Proven success in sales, business strategy, and loan portfolio management.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
