Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth and expand market share across our business units, including hall management, event services, and equipment rentals.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new revenue opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving client acquisition across both event-related and non-event business streams. This role requires strong knowledge of the Lagos business landscape, excellent networking skills, and the ability to convert opportunities into measurable revenue.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion:
Develop and implement growth strategies tailored to the Lagos market across all service lines.
Identify new business opportunities including corporate clients, social organizations, SMEs, and institutional partnerships.
Expand revenue streams beyond events (e.g., corporate leasing, trainings, recurring bookings, and vendor partnerships).
Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis within Lagos to inform strategic decisions.
Sales & Client Acquisition:
Generate leads through networking, cold outreach, referrals, and digital channels.
Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals.
Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and secure long-term agreements.
Drive consistent occupancy of halls and utilization of rental equipment.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate organizations, event planners, religious bodies, schools, and social groups.
Ensure high client satisfaction to encourage repeat business and referrals.
Act as the primary point of contact for high-value clients and partnerships.
Revenue & Commercial Performance:
Achieve monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
Develop pricing strategies and bundled service offerings suitable for Lagos clientele.
Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities across business units.
Partnerships & Networking:
Establish partnerships with vendors, decorators, caterers, and corporate organizations.
Represent the company at networking events, exhibitions, and business forums within Lagos.
Leverage personal and professional networks to generate business opportunities.
Internal Collaboration:
Work closely with operations and marketing teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Contribute to marketing campaigns and promotional strategies targeted at Lagos audiences.
Provide insights for improving service offerings based on market demand.
Reporting & Analytics:
Track sales pipeline, client engagements, and conversion rates.
Provide weekly and monthly performance reports.
Use data insights to refine strategies and improve performance.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
4 - 7 years of proven experience in business development or sales (preferably in hospitality, real estate, retail, or service-based industries).
Strong understanding of the Lagos commercial landscape and customer behavior.
Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed revenue targets.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong networking ability and access to corporate or social circles is an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
