Business Development Representative - Climate at VIDA

Your resonsibilities:
Lead generation
Use tools such as DevelopmentAid to identify new climate-related opportunities for VIDA.
Develop opportunities through conversations with donors and partners.
Qualify leads by assessing needs, budgets and alignment with VIDA's climate work.
Market intelligence
Track developments in the climate sector, including new programmes, funding streams and donor priorities.
Monitor competitor activities to identify gaps in the market.
Partnerships
Track the activities of potential partners, including engineering firms and other consultancies active in climate risk, resilience and adaptation.
Prepare outreach materials (slide decks, one-pagers, and tailored emails) to support engagement with prospective partners.
Engage directly with potential partners to explore collaboration opportunities.
Help maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective partners through regular communication and follow-up.
Support the development of partnership agreements and contributions to joint proposals.
Pipeline management and reporting
Keep VIDA's CRM (HubSpot) accurate and up to date, ensuring climate opportunities are well-tracked and visible to the wider BD team.
Report on the outcomes of climate-related proposals and tenders.
Proposal development and bid support
Write and coordinate technical and financial proposals for climate-focused clients such as the Global Center for Adaptation, Green Climate Fund, World Bank and other key donors.
Work with VIDA's Data Solutions and Product teams to gather technical inputs for climate projects.
Content and materials development
Prepare tailored business development materials (slide decks, one-pagers, case studies) highlighting VIDA's climate work.
Keep materials current by updating information on VIDA's climate portfolio, geographic reach and recent project successes.
Is it you we're looking for?
You hold a Master's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, climate studies, geography, international development, or public policy. A Master's degree is preferred, but not essential if you bring sufficient sector experience.
You bring at least 2 years of professional experience, with direct exposure to business development.
You have strong knowledge of climate-related topics, including but not limited to physical climate risk, adaptation, and resilience.
You are familiar with international climate processes and frameworks (e.g., NDCs, COP, climate finance mechanisms).
You understand climate hazard data and geospatial information.
You have engaged with donors and stakeholders in the climate resilience and adaptation space (e.g., GCA, GCF).
You have a track record of securing new opportunities through tenders or direct procurement, and are familiar with donor procurement cycles and funding processes.
You can write and speak confidently about topics such as climate risk, adaptation, and resilience for different audiences.
You bring strong communication and relationship-building skills with strategic partners.
You are able to persuade and influence effectively to position VIDA in key conversations.
You are comfortable working across different geographies and cultural contexts.
