Criteria
3+ years of hands-on experience in a BI Developer, Data Analyst or similar role, ideally within retail, FMCG or a similarly fast-paced commercial environment.
Strong proficiency in SQL — comfortable writing complex, optimised queries across large datasets.
Proven ability to build impactful dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, Looker or comparable BI tools.
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modelling and ETL/ELT processes.
Experience working with cloud data platforms
Ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making through data.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and governance.
Ability to consume, integrate, and surface AI-generated insights within BI tools, with working knowledge of prompt engineering, predictive outputs, and AI feature platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain dashboards, reports and self-service analytics tools using Power BI (or equivalent platform), ensuring outputs are accurate, performant and fit for purpose.
Write and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures and data models to support reporting requirements across commercial, buying, supply chain, store operations and finance.
Build and maintain dimensional data models and semantic layers (e.g. star schemas) within the data warehouse, working closely with Data Engineering to ensure data quality and consistency.
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into analytical solutions, and iterate rapidly based on feedback.
Develop and document data definitions, KPI frameworks and reporting standards to promote consistent interpretation of data across the business.
Monitor and troubleshoot existing BI infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving data quality issues or pipeline failures.
Champion self-service analytics — training and upskilling non-technical users to leverage BI tools confidently and independently.
Contribute to the evolution of the BI strategy, including tooling decisions, architecture improvements and best-practice adoption.
