Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Capsule Filling Operator with a strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing to operate, monitor, and maintain capsule filling equipment in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable quality and safety requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient capsule production while maintaining product quality, accuracy, cleanliness, and compliance with pharmaceutical manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operate automatic and/or semi-automatic capsule filling machines in accordance with approved SOPs and batch manufacturing records.
Set up, adjust, and monitor capsule filling machines to achieve required production specifications.
Perform machine changeovers, product changeovers, and equipment adjustments as required.
Ensure correct dispensing and filling of powder/granule formulations into capsules according to approved batch instructions.
Monitor critical process parameters such as fill weight, machine speed, capsule locking, powder flow, and rejection rates.
Conduct in-process checks and record results accurately in batch documentation.
Identify and report machine abnormalities, deviations, product defects, and equipment malfunctions promptly.
Perform routine cleaning and line clearance of capsule filling equipment and production areas.
Ensure equipment and production areas are maintained according to GMP and contamination-control requirements.
Verify correct materials, product codes, batch numbers, and packaging/components before and during production.
Minimize production losses, downtime, rejects, and material wastage while maintaining product quality.
Assist with equipment assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
Maintain accurate and complete production records, logbooks, and documentation.
Follow all GMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), safety, environmental, and company procedures.
Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering, and Warehouse teams when required.
Participate in investigations of deviations, equipment issues, and production-related problems.
Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and comply with gowning and controlled-area requirements.
Perform other production-related duties assigned by the Production Supervisor or Manager.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Production output versus planned targets.
Capsule fill-weight accuracy and consistency.
Machine efficiency and downtime.
Production rejects and material wastage.
Compliance with GMP and SOP requirements.
Accuracy and completeness of batch documentation.
Timely completion of cleaning and changeover activities.
Number and severity of production deviations attributable to operator error.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum qualification of OND/HND/B.Sc. in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
2 - 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in capsule filling operations.
Previous hands-on experience operating capsule filling machines is essential.
Experience with pharmaceutical solid dosage manufacturing is highly desirable.
Good knowledge of GMP, SOPs, batch manufacturing records, and in-process controls.
Practical knowledge of capsule filling equipment, changeover, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.
Experience working in a regulated pharmaceutical production environment is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Capsule filling machine operation and setup.
In-process quality monitoring and weight checks.
Equipment cleaning and changeover procedures.
Basic mechanical troubleshooting.
Good Documentation Practices.
