About the Job
As a Caretaker/Groundskeeper you will ensure the premises, compound and outdoor spaces are clean, secure, safe and well maintained through effective groundskeeping, gardening, basic maintenance and general caretaking duties. The role will support the Administration function in maintaining an attractive, orderly and functional working environment.
Job Description
Plant, water, prune, and care for a variety of plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers.
Mow, trim, and edge lawns and pathways to maintain neat and orderly grounds.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed to promote plant health and control weeds.
Remove leaves, debris, and litter from gardens and outdoor areas.
Design and implement garden layouts and seasonal planting plans.
Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition e.g., maintenance of the generator.
Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks around the property.
Ensure that walkways, driveways, and public areas are free from hazards and obstructions.
Monitor and report any issues related to the property's outdoor areas, such as broken equipment or damaged plants.
Assist in the setup and dismantling of outdoor furniture or equipment for events.
Ensure proper watering schedules are followed to maintain the health of all plants.
Monitor water usage and implement water-saving techniques where possible.
Ensure that the property is secure, including locking gates and reporting any suspicious activity.
Maintain clear and safe walkways, particularly in adverse weather conditions.
Ensuring proper disposal & collection of garbage waste.
Ensuring that the provided accommodation is kept clean, tidy, and well-maintained at all times.
Skills
Gardening Skills:
Knowledge of horticultural practices, plant care, and garden design.
Ability to identify plant species and their specific needs.
Proficiency in using gardening tools and equipment.
Maintenance Skills:
Basic handyman skills, including minor repairs, painting, and maintenance.
Familiarity with irrigation systems and water management techniques.
Competencies
Familiarity with landscaping design
Extensive knowledge of regional plant life
Knowledge of local pests and how to eliminate them
Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizer
Knowledge of state health and safety regulations for landscaping
A love of the outdoors and plant life
Qualifications
High school Certificate or any other relevant certification.
