Job Purpose
The cash teller is responsible for handling and managing cash transactions, a frontline worker who ensures that customers' transactional needs are met efficiently and accurately.
Teller also maintains the business's reputation and ensures that customers have a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and address their inquiries
Receive and dispense cash to customers (internal and external) using appropriate instruments/instructions and proper narration for easy reconciliation
Keep till box, stamps, and cash arranged and safe
Maintain a clean and organized workstation
Update all cash-related registers and files
Follow all ticket/voucher handling procedures as given by the Head of Operations and the internal control/audit group.
Prevent fraudulent activities/transactions through due diligence in handling unusual transactions through account history.
Scrutinize banknotes for counterfeits.
Balance cash daily, prepare, sign off, and file till analysis.
Report any teller difference the same day
Provide information regarding bank products and services to potential and existing customers
Mobilize deposits in Current & Savings Accounts (CASA) & Term Deposits form, using the current rate guide
Listen attentively to customers' concerns, showing empathy and understanding, and take appropriate actions to resolve the problem effectively and efficiently
Collaborate with other departments and teams within the bank to find the best solution for the customer's situation
Perform various administrative tasks, such as filing and organizing paperwork
Requirements
Minimum of a first degree
Minimum of 2 years in a Financial Institution environment
Knowledge of financial service channels.arket/y
Knowledge of customer needs across different segments such as income, geography, culture, demography, and markets (Market segmentation and analysis).
Knowledge of the retail banking market.
Knowledge of micro and macroeconomics
Knowledge of financial markets analysis.
