PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Cashbook Clerk is responsible for accurately recording and reconciling all bank and cash transactions, maintaining complete supporting documentation, and ensuring that transactions are processed timeously and in accordance with company policies and internal controls
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Accurate and timely processing of cashbook transactions. o Capture daily bank transactions accurately in the accounting system.
Process receipts, payments, electronic transfers, bank charges, interest and other cashbook entries.
Allocate receipts and payments to the correct accounts, entities, departments and cost centres.
Monitor bank balances and assist with daily cash-position reporting. o Assist with intercompany transactions, billing and reconciliations. o Process and reconcile petty-cash transactions, where applicable
Ensure timely processing of refunds where applicable and supported by required documentation
Investigate and resolve reconciling items, unidentified deposits and discrepancies promptly.
Prepare cashbook schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Respond to audit queries and provide requested information promptly.
Assist with annual external audits and preparation of supporting schedules.
Liaise with banks, finance personnel and operational departments to resolve transaction related queries.
Identify long-outstanding reconciling items and escalate unresolved matters. o Comply with company policies, delegated authority limits and financial controls. o Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive banking and financial information.
Perform other finance-related duties reasonably assigned by management.
Implementation of process improvements to strengthen finance controls o Reduction in manual processing errors and reconciliation issues
COMPETENCIES (The following will be advantageous)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
(Educational Qualifications & Experience)
Grade 12
Relevant cashbook, bookkeeping or finance experience.
Experience within a healthcare or multi-entity environment is advantageous.
Sound understanding of cashbook processing, bank reconciliations and basic accounting principles.
A certificate, diploma or qualification in bookkeeping, accounting or finance is advantageous
