Location: SKILLS FACTORY, Samos, GR

Type: Managing Position (Long-Term)

Start: 1st of December 2025

selfm.aid is a Swiss–Greek non-profit dedicated to tackling humanitarian challenges and fostering social inclusion.

Through our flagship project, the SKILLS FACTORY on Samos (GR), we create opportunities for learning, skill-building, and meaningful engagement – empowering both the displaced community and our volunteers. In the SKILLS FACTORY, artisans and makers from around the world share their expertise, exchange ideas, and craft essential goods – blending creativity, skills, collaboration, and purpose.

Role Overview:

As Co-Project Manager (Craftsmanship), you will share overall responsibility for the SKILLS FACTORY with your counterpart in Social Work & Administration. Your focus will be on the manual and creative side – leading departments, guiding production, mentoring participants, and coordinating a team of volunteers.

Together, you will drive an initiative that unites social impact and craftsmanship, empowering people through making, learning, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-lead the strategic planning and daily operations of the SKILLS FACTORY on Samos.
  • Oversee all craftsmanship departments (Barber, WASH, Kitchen, Tailor, Media, Maintenance).
  • Guide production processes, certification schemes, and quality standards.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 3 coordinators and several volunteers.
  • Ensure the proper use and maintenance of buildings, tools, and equipment.
  • Manage inventories, materials, and workshop safety.
  • Foster an empowering, inclusive, and creative work environment.
  • Implement project frameworks, policies, and safeguarding standards.
  • Support emergency response and operational readiness when required.
  • Report regularly to the Director and collaborate closely with your Co-Project Manager (Social Work & Administration).

Requirements:

  • Trained craftsperson or maker with a background in a hands-on trade.
  • Ideally an all-rounder who enjoys working with tools, fixing, building, and creating.
  • Proven team leadership experience with the ability to motivate, delegate, and take responsibility.
  • Experience or strong interest in the humanitarian or social sector.
  • Long-term commitment: willing to engage for at least one year or longer.
  • Organised, practical, and creative – able to turn ideas into action and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Fluent in English (Greek, French, or Arabic are an advantage).
  • Calm, friendly, and good-humoured, even under pressure.
  • Emotionally resilient and able to maintain healthy boundaries in a challenging context.
  • Guided by a person-centred and participatory approach, open to learning from others.
  • Committed to selfm.aid’s values, philosophy, and vision.

What we offer:

  • Work and learn alongside a diverse, highly skilled team of crafts(wo)men from around the world.
  • Gain hands-on experience within a dynamic and growing humanitarian NGO.
  • Be part of a respectful, empowering, and person-centred culture, where every voice matters.
  • Receive comprehensive onboarding and continuous support during your time on Samos.
  • Monthly salary: €1,050 (net, plus taxes and insurance).
  • Two weeks of paid leave after every three months of service.
  • Regular self-care and debriefing sessions to support your well-being.
  • Valuable learning and leadership experience within a grassroots humanitarian project.
  • Build a strong professional network and references in the humanitarian and social fields.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact while developing personally and professionally.
