Co-Teaching Coordinator / Consultant – Kigutu International Academy (KIA)
Contract Duration: January 20, 2026 – December 31, 2026
Duty Station: Kigutu International Academy, Kigutu
Reporting to: Head of School / Deputy Head of School

1.Background and Rationale

Kigutu International Academy (KIA) is committed to delivering high-quality, student-centered education that promotes collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation. As part of this commitment, KIA is working to implement a co-teaching model that enhances instructional effectiveness, strengthens teacher collaboration, and improves learning outcomes.

To operationalize this model, KIA seeks a qualified Co-Teaching Coordinator / Consultant to provide leadership, coaching, and structured implementation support. The Consultant will help ensure that co-teaching is used effectively across classrooms and aligned with best pedagogical practices.

2.Objective of the Consultancy

To support, coordinate, and strengthen the implementation of the co-teaching model at KIA in order to improve instructional quality, promote inclusive learning, and enhance student outcomes.

3.Scope of Work

The Co-Teaching Coordinator / Consultant will carry out the following tasks:

Instructional Support and Coaching

  • Coordinate, model, and co-teach alongside classroom teachers to demonstrate effective practices.
  • Support teachers in planning, delivering, and evaluating co-taught lessons.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring to teachers on co-teaching roles, differentiation, and collaborative instruction.

Professional Development

  • Facilitate professional development workshops on co-teaching, inclusive pedagogy, differentiation strategies, and student engagement.
  • Organize and lead meetings or workshops to strengthen co-teaching initiatives.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor implementation of the co-teaching model across classrooms.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback.
  • Assist in analyzing student performance data to inform instruction and improve co-teaching strategies.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with school leadership and teaching teams to ensure coherent co-teaching practices.
  • Promote collaboration, reflective teaching, and shared ownership of student learning.

4.Ethical Considerations and Safeguarding

The Consultant shall comply fully with KIA’s safeguarding and child protection policies.
They must:

  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Respect the dignity and safety of all learners and staff.
  • Protect confidentiality and report safeguarding concerns promptly to the Safeguarding Officer or Head of School.

5.Duration and Level of Effort

Contract Duration: January 20, 2026 – December 31, 2026
The Consultant will work primarily on-site, with scheduled coordination and classroom engagement determined in consultation with the Head of School.

6.Deliverables

The Consultant will be expected to deliver the following:

  • Co-Teaching Implementation Plan submitted by February 2026.
  • Monthly progress reports documenting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • At least two professional development workshops on co-teaching and related instructional practices.
  • End-of-Contract Evaluation Report summarizing progress, challenges, impact, and recommendations.

7.Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience, preferably within a co-teaching or collaborative teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in teacher training, mentorship, or educational leadership.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative planning and reflective practice.

8.Capacity Building

The Consultant will promote sustainable capacity building by:

  • Strengthening teachers’ ability to co-plan, co-teach, and co-assess effectively.
  • Developing teachers’ skills in differentiation, classroom management, and inclusive practices.
  • Encouraging peer collaboration and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Providing tools, templates, and resources that support long-term implementation of co-teaching.
  • Enhancing teachers’ confidence in applying diverse co-teaching models (team teaching, parallel teaching, station teaching, etc.).

9.Timeline and Key Milestones

Timeline & Activity / Milestone

January 2026: Consultant onboarding, needs assessment, baseline observation of classrooms.

February 2026: Submission of Co-Teaching Implementation Plan.

March–May 2026: Modelling co-teaching; coaching sessions; first professional development workshop.

June–August 2026: Ongoing mentoring; co-planning meetings; mid-year review of teaching effectiveness.

September–October 2026: Second professional development workshop; evaluation of student data to adjust strategies.

November 2026: Final observation cycle; refinement of co-teaching strategies.

December 2026: Submission of End-of-Contract Evaluation Report and handover of all materials.

10.Budget and Resources

Applicants must submit a financial proposal detailing:

  • Consultancy fees (daily or monthly rate).
  • Travel and accommodation costs, if applicable.
  • Costs of materials, training tools, or resources required to deliver workshops.
  • Any additional expenses related to the consultancy.

KIA will provide:

  • Workspace and relevant school resources.
  • Access to classrooms, teachers, and planning materials.
  • Administrative support for meetings and workshops.
  • Accommodation on site (if applicable).

Final budget arrangements will be determined based on the submitted proposal and KIA’s policies.

11.Reporting Requirements

The Consultant will report directly to the Head of School / Deputy Head of School and will be responsible for:

  • Submitting monthly progress reports.
  • Sharing all training materials, tools, and templates developed.
  • Presenting a final evaluation report at the end of the assignment.
  • Communicating regularly regarding challenges and successes in implementation.

12.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Demonstrated improvement in co-teaching practices across classrooms.
  • Teacher feedback indicating enhanced confidence and skills.
  • Evidence of improved student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Completion of required professional development workshops.
  • Submission of high-quality reports and deliverables on time.
