We are looking for a strategic commercial leader with expertise in Telecoms and Fintech (ideally Mobile Financial services) across African markets to join us as Commercial Director. Based in Kenya, you will lead regional operations across Central Africa, drive sustainable revenue growth, and build long-term partnerships. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about financial inclusion and digital innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the regional commercial strategy in alignment with global business objectives.
Serve as the General Manager for the regional office, overseeing all aspects of performance including revenue generation, cost optimization, compliance, and operational delivery.
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders across the region.
Drive upselling and cross-selling initiatives to expand product adoption and increase customer lifetime value.
Lead the development and execution of strategic account plans and regional growth strategies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Operations, Finance, and Technology teams to ensure seamless customer experiences.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and regulatory engagements to enhance brand visibility and influence.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Oversee talent development, employee engagement, and organizational culture within the regional office.
Ensure robust governance, risk management, and reporting frameworks are in place.
Requirements:
MBA or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial leadership, account management, or regional general management roles.
At least 8 years of experience in the Telecoms industry, ideally within African markets.
Proven track record of managing P&L, leading regional operations, and driving multi-country commercial success.
Strong understanding of the cultural, political, and regulatory landscape in Central Africa.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.
Experience thriving in a B2B2X environment, with a focus on financial inclusion and scalable digital solutions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
