Position Summary


The Compliance Intern will provide administrative and coordination support to the Compliance function, with primary responsibility for maintaining and updating Compliance trackers, calendars, records, and related documentation. The role will support audit and assurance administration, compliance monitoring, statutory and regulatory compliance tracking, and other Compliance activities as assigned.
The intern will be expected to ensure that assigned trackers and calendars are current based on information received and to actively follow up on missing or overdue updates. Where gaps, inconsistencies, or potential compliance concerns are identified, these will be escalated to the Compliance Manager or Compliance Officer for substantive review and action.


Key Responsibilities

Audit and Assurance Administration


Maintain the Audit and Assurance Calendars and ensure planned audits, assurance engagements, key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines are accurately captured and regularly updated.
Provide administrative and coordination support for internal, external, statutory, donor, and other audit and assurance engagements as assigned by the Compliance Manager.
Track audit timelines, milestones, information requests, deliverables, and deadlines.
Maintain organized audit files, reports, management letters, and other relevant audit documentation in the designated electronic filing system.
Support the preparation of audit status updates and reports.
Provide logistical and administrative support during audit and assurance engagements.


Compliance Monitoring and Reviews


Support the Compliance Manager and Compliance Officer in implementing compliance monitoring activities.
Participate in compliance reviews and monitoring activities as assigned.
Assist in collecting, organizing, and compiling information and documentation required for compliance reviews.
Conduct preliminary administrative checks of designated compliance folders to confirm that required documents have been uploaded and are appropriately named and organized.
Identify missing documents, filing gaps, or inconsistencies and escalate them to the Compliance team for review.
Support the documentation of observations, action points, and follow-up requirements under supervision.


Statutory and Regulatory Compliance Support


Maintain trackers and calendars for statutory, tax, and other regulatory compliance requirements across AWF operations.
Monitor key filing deadlines, TCC expiry dates, registrations, licenses, and other recurring compliance obligations.
Support in preparing and issuing reminders to relevant stakeholders ahead of key deadlines.
Support in following up with country offices and relevant functions on required submissions, updates, and supporting documentation.
Maintain organized records of statutory and regulatory compliance submissions.
Escalate overdue, missing, or outstanding matters to the Compliance Manager or Compliance Officer.


Meeting, Action and Document Management


Provide administrative support for Compliance meetings and other related engagements.
Prepare meeting materials and take minutes where required.
Maintain action-point trackers and follow up with responsible stakeholders on agreed actions and due dates.
Maintain organized records of compliance meetings, decisions, action points, and correspondence.
Perform basic checks between compliance trackers, submitted documents, and information maintained in relevant systems.
Identify missing information, gaps, inconsistencies, or discrepancies for further review.
Support the reconciliation and updating of compliance records and trackers based on confirmed information.


Other Compliance Support


Support the Compliance Manager and Compliance Officer with documentation, and other administrative assignments.
Participate in other compliance, audit, assurance, or monitoring activities as assigned.
Undertake other duties relevant to the role and level of the internship.


Key Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Audit, Risk Management, Governance, or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant experience in compliance, audit, assurance, risk, internal controls, finance, or administration is an added advantage.
Ability to maintain trackers, calendars, records, and documentation.
Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality, accountability, initiative, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Audit, Risk Management, Governance, or a related field.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with good organizational and follow-through skills.
Good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
