Job Purpose

The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organization operates in line with internal policies, donor regulations, and applicable laws, while promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct across all operations.

Key Responsibilities

Policy and Regulatory Compliance


Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and donor requirements
Monitor compliance with national laws and regulatory frameworks
Support the development and update of internal policies and SOPs


Risk Management


Identify and assess compliance risks across departments and projects
Develop and implement risk mitigation measures
Maintain a risk register and track mitigation actions


Monitoring and Internal Controls


Conduct compliance checks and internal reviews
Strengthen internal control systems
Ensure proper documentation and audit trails


Audit Support


Support internal and external audits
Ensure timely provision of required documentation
Follow up on audit findings and recommendations


Training and Awareness


Train staff on compliance policies, code of conduct, and donor requirements
Promote awareness of PSEA, safeguarding, anti-fraud, and ethics policies


Reporting and Documentation


Prepare compliance reports for management and donors
Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and findings
Report non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions


Investigation and Ethics


Support investigations into fraud, misconduct, or policy violations
Ensure confidentiality and fairness in handling cases
Promote a culture of integrity and accountability


Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor's degree in law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in compliance, audit, or risk management
Experience working in NGO/humanitarian settings is an advantage


Key Skills and Competencies


Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and donor regulations
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity and attention to detail
Strong report writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure
