Position Summary


Reporting to the Compliance & ER Specialist, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for monitoring compliance with legal, statutory, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. The role will support audits, license renewals, regulatory inspections, compliance reporting, legal documentation, policy implementation, and risk mitigation across manufacturing sites and business functions.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Regulatory & Statutory Compliance


Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations including Employment Act, OSHA, EMCA, food safety regulations, KEBS requirements, NEMA, DOSHS, County Government licenses, Public Health, Fire, and other sector-specific approvals.


License Renewals & Statutory Filings


Track expiry dates, coordinate timely renewals of permits, licenses, certifications, and statutory filings, and maintain proper compliance records in both physical and digital formats.


Regulatory Inspections & Audit Support


Coordinate and support inspections by KEBS, NEMA, DOSHS, County Health, Fire, Labour, and other regulatory authorities. Follow up on inspection findings and ensure closure within agreed timelines.


Legal & Contract Support


Assist in handling commercial and contractual matters, liaise with external counsel, maintain litigation schedules, and support the drafting, reviewing, and tracking of contracts and agreements.


Policy Development & Implementation


Support the development, review, and implementation of compliance policies, SOPs, manuals, and internal controls across departments.


Risk Management


Identify compliance risks, gaps, incidents, and non-conformities. Escalate issues promptly and recommend practical mitigation measures to reduce legal and operational risks.


Food Safety & Quality Compliance


Support adherence to HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO 9001, GMP, KEBS standards, labeling requirements, recall procedures, and food handling practices.


Training & Awareness


Support compliance training and awareness on food safety, labour laws, HSE, data protection, anti-bribery, ethics, and regulatory obligations.


Reporting & Documentation


Prepare periodic compliance reports, dashboards, legal updates, communication briefs, and management reports on compliance status, risks, incidents, and corrective actions.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor's Degree in Law and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Professional certification in Compliance, Risk Management, Audit, or related field such as CISA, CFE, or equivalent is an added advantage.
0 - 2 years' experience in a compliance or regulatory role, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
Experience dealing with regulatory authorities such as KEBS, DOSHS, NEMA, County Government, Public Health, Fire, and Labour offices is an added advantage.
Familiarity with ISO 22000, ISO 9001, food safety, occupational health and safety, environmental, labour, and corporate laws is desirable.
