Job Purpose
The Construction Interior Designer is responsible for independently managing interior design projects from inception to completion. Key Responsibilities
Interior Design Development
Develop creative and functional interior design concepts that meet client requirements and project objectives.
Prepare mood boards, material palettes, space planning layouts, and design presentations.
Produce detailed interior design drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Recommend suitable finishes, furniture, fixtures, lighting, and accessories for projects.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building regulations, safety standards, and company requirements.
Project Coordination and Execution
Independently manage assigned interior design projects from design stage through project handover.
Conduct site surveys and gather project requirements.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors, suppliers, and clients throughout project execution.
Monitor project progress and ensure design intent is maintained during installation.
Resolve design-related issues on-site and provide practical solutions as they arise.
Client Relationship Management
Meet clients to understand project requirements, preferences, and expectations.
Present design proposals and obtain necessary approvals.
Provide regular project updates and respond promptly to client concerns.
Build and maintain positive client relationships to support repeat business opportunities.
Budget and Cost Control
Prepare project cost estimates and material schedules.
Ensure proposed designs align with approved budgets.
Recommend cost-effective design alternatives where necessary.
Monitor design variations and communicate any cost implications to management and clients.
Site Supervision and Quality Assurance
Conduct regular site inspections during project implementation.
Verify that workmanship and materials conform to approved specifications.
Prepare site observation reports and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure projects are completed to the required quality standards.
Facilities Maintenance and Renovation Management
Inspect existing facilities to identify repair, maintenance, and renovation requirements, and develop appropriate maintenance and renovation schedules.
Design, plan, coordinate, and oversee repairs, preventive maintenance works, alterations, and renovation projects to existing facilities, ensuring compliance with approved specifications, budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
Assess facility conditions and recommend cost-effective improvement solutions to enhance functionality, aesthetics, safety, and asset lifespan.
Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely execution of maintenance and renovation activities.
Monitor and verify the quality of completed repair, maintenance, and renovation works and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Procurement and Supplier Coordination
Source materials, finishes, furniture, fittings, and décor items.
Evaluate supplier proposals and samples for suitability and quality.
Coordinate material deliveries and installation schedules.
Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to support project delivery.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate project records, drawings, approvals, and correspondence.
Prepare project progress reports and status updates.
Ensure all project documentation is properly filed and updated.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Professional certification in Interior Design is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum 6 years of experience in Interior Design and construction projects execution.
Proven experience handling interior fit-out projects independently.
Experience in commercial, residential, hospitality, or corporate interior projects is desirable.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3Ds Max, Lumion, or similar design software.
Strong space planning and visualization skills.
Knowledge of interior materials, finishes, furniture, and construction methods.
Knowledge of building maintenance, facility renovations, and repair planning.
Excellent project coordination and organizational abilities.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
