Job Purpose


The Construction Storekeeper is responsible for the effective management, receipt, storage, issuance, and recording of construction materials, tools, equipment, and other site supplies. The position ensures that materials are available when required, properly stored, accurately accounted for, and issued in accordance with approved project requirements.
Due to the organization's focus on construction and property development, preference will be given to candidates with academic backgrounds in Construction Management, Building and Construction, or Quantity Surveying, in addition to knowledge or experience in stores and inventory management.


Key Responsibilities


Receive construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies delivered to the site.
Verify delivered materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, specifications, and approved quantities.
Inspect materials for quantity, quality, damage, and compliance with project requirements before acceptance.
Maintain accurate records of all materials received, issued, returned, and remaining in stock.
Issue materials to authorized personnel based on approved material requisitions.
Maintain proper stock cards, bin cards, inventory registers, and electronic inventory records.
Monitor stock levels and communicate re-order requirements to the relevant supervisor.
Organize and maintain the construction store in a clean, secure, and systematic manner.
Ensure proper identification, labelling, stacking, and storage of construction materials.
Maintain appropriate storage conditions for cement, steel, timber, plumbing materials, electrical materials, finishing materials, tools, and other construction supplies.
Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile physical stock against inventory records.
Investigate and report discrepancies, damaged materials, shortages, or unexplained stock movements.
Monitor the movement and return of tools, equipment, and reusable construction materials.
Work closely with the Site Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Procurement Team, Contractors, and Accounts Department to ensure proper material control.
Assist in monitoring material usage against project requirements and approved quantities.
Prepare regular stock reports and material movement reports for management.
Maintain proper documentation for material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and disposals.
Ensure that only authorized personnel access the stores.
Support project teams in identifying material requirements and ensuring timely availability of materials.
Assist with stock-taking exercises, audits, and internal inspections.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, and site procedures.
Perform any other duties related to stores and construction material management as assigned.


Academic Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:


Certificate or Diploma in Construction Management, Building and Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related construction field.
