Purpose and Objectives
The main aim of this baseline survey is to provide reliable and valid data on the status of alcohol use in the target counties of Nyeri, Vihiga, Taita Taveta, Nairobi and Kisii. Specifically, the survey aims to:
Assess the prevalence of alcohol use among Kenyans aged 18-49 years from the target counties.
Identify the factors that influence alcohol use and abuse in the target counties at the individual, family, and societal levels.
Determine the level of awareness and the utilisation of existing alcohol abuse reduction interventions.
Assess the health and economic consequences of alcohol misuse among Kenyan communities.
NCD Alliance Kenya is seeking to hire a consultant to undertake a baseline study at the national level and in the mentioned target regions. The baseline study is intended to provide programme staff with detailed baseline data on key project indicators to enable the project to measure changes taking place in the communities. The data collected will be qualitative in nature and will include information gathered on the results indicators and on knowledge, attitudes and practices of communities and duty bearers on alcohol control as a risk factor to major NCDs and hindrance to economic development.

Lead consultant: At least a master's degree in economics/ business studies/public policy, social science, or political science.
