Qualifications and experience required:


Grade 12.
Five to eight years' relevant experience with supervisory experience.
Computer literacy - MS Office applications.


Key attributes and competencies:


Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
The incumbent will be required to monitor the various systems linked to the Control.
Centre and initiate the necessary emergency action to incoming calls.
Emergency response coordination, computer literacy, attention to detail.
Decision-making and problem-solving, monitoring and dispatching.
Technical aptitude, information management, attention to detail.
Client and service delivery orientation, interpersonal skills, information update and record-keeping.
Supervises and controls the performance indicators and outcomes of employees based in the Control Centre.


Physical requirement of the post:


The incumbent sits most of the day but works long shifts (12 hours at a time).
Special conditions attached to the post:
Required to work shifts and overtime.


Job purpose:

Is responsible for the daily operation of the Control Centre and duty rooms, including:


Receiving emergency calls.
Dispatching of emergency vehicles and personnel.
Providing communication support for operational staff in the field.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
