Key performance areas
Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children.
Cater for allergies, dietary requirements and approved meal plans.
Manage food portions, serving times and daily kitchen operations.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
Monitor stock levels, place orders and control food waste.
Supervise and guide the assistant cook or kitchen staff.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a school or childcare environment.
Knowledge of children's nutrition, food allergies and portion control.
Food-safety or food-handling certification would be advantageous.
Good planning, time-management and stock-control skills.
Ability to prepare meals for large groups consistently.
Clear criminal record and required child-safeguarding clearance.
Grade 12 / Matric
Previous Hospitality experience would be beneficial
