Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
BTech/ Advanced Diploma or PG Diploma/ Honours in Mechanical Engineering. Master's in mechanical engineering will be advantageous. All underpinning qualifications must be Mechanical Engineering.
At least 2 years lecturing experience in the faculty of Engineering and/ or relevant industrial experience.
Proven record of industry and community engagement.
Thorough knowledge of all Work-Integrated Learning models and systems (specifically workplace- based
Learning and industry-project based learning).
Knowledge of current legislation in education, labour and skills development.
Knowledge of SAQA, HEQSF, NQF and accreditation requirements relating to Work Integrated learning.
Must be registered with ECSA Professional Body or must register within 12 months of employment.
Recommendation:
Completed either the TOP or HDET or equivalent
Evidence to manage students within an academic and innovative environment.
Evidence of engagement with funding agencies.
A valid driver's license.

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Visit companies to ensure suitability of workstation for student placement
Maintain existing and recruit new companies to increase database of workstations
Evaluate suitability of prospective workstations
Evaluate and monitor training programs
Preparing students for world of work
Place all students that require experiential learning
Monitor students' performance through visits, oral presentation, report writing and logbooks
Resolve training issues
Coordinate Advisory Board meetings
Select advisory members in consultation with academic department
Prepare for ECSA audits
Quality Assurance
Research
Curriculum Development and assessment of learning
Industry public sector liaison and networking
Serve on Faculty Cooperative Education Committee
