We are seeking a Cost & Inventory Accountant (Finance Executive) who will be responsible for for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock movements, executing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, managing receivables and payables, performing inventory accounting and reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with established financial policies and procedures. The role supports financial reporting, inventory valuation, cost control, and working capital management while serving as a key liaison between Finance, Procurement, Sales, and Warehouse Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Accounting & Financial Control
Maintain accurate inventory accounting records for all auto spare parts.
Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately captured in the ERP/accounting system.
Review Goods Received Notes (GRNs), stock transfers, returns, and stock adjustment entries for financial accuracy.
Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
Ensure proper accounting treatment of inventory-related transactions.
Financial Accounting
Record daily financial transactions accurately and timely.
Maintain the General Ledger and ensure proper account classification.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and financial procedures.
Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
Accounts Payable and Receivable
Process supplier invoices and verify supporting documentation.
Prepare payment schedules in line with approved payment terms and company cash flow requirements.
Maintain accurate accounts payable records and ensure timely settlement of supplier obligations.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Raise customer invoices and ensure timely billing of customers.
Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure adherence to credit terms.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances or disputed balances.
Prepare periodic aged payables and aged receivables reports for management review.
Support credit control activities and customer account management.
Monitor debtor and creditor balances and provide recommendations to improve cash flow and working capital efficiency.
Ensure accurate maintenance of accounts payable and receivable records in the accounting system
Financial Analysis & Reporting
Prepare monthly inventory, receivables, and payables reports.
Monitor inventory turnover and stock movement trends.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis exercises.
Provide financial insights to support operational and commercial decisions.
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and statutory reports.
Treasury & Cash Management
Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
Manage petty cash transactions and replenishment.
Process approved payments and maintain payment records.
Monitor daily cash balances and report cash position as required.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for financial reporting.
Maintain organized financial records and filing systems.
Support internal and external audit activities.
Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures
Payroll Support
Support payroll preparation by providing accurate payroll inputs.
Process employee reimbursements and related documentation.
Assist in maintaining payroll records and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification or progress toward ICAN, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent is an advantage.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in accounting, inventory accounting, or finance operations.
Experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, Retail, Distribution, or auto spare parts business is preferred.
Proficiency in ERP systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel.
